Tom Taylor, MD, FACS | Board Certified General Surgeon
Dr. Tom Taylor is a native of Tennessee, born in Lafayette in 1964. In 1970, his family moved to southern Kentucky, and he graduated in 1982 from Allen County Scottsville High School. Dr. Taylor then attended Western Kentucky University, majoring in biology and chemistry. He earned his Bachelor of Science in 1986 and was awarded a scholarship through the US Army to attend the University Of Kentucky College Of Medicine. Dr. Tom Taylor graduated in 1990 with his medical degree, was promoted to Captain in the US Army and began a six year surgical residency at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center near Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Taylor was then promoted to Major in the US Army and became Chief of Surgery at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, from 1996 through June of 1999. Upon leaving the military in 1999, Dr. Taylor opened his own private practice in Nashville at the old Nashville Memorial Hospital, which subsequently became Skyline Medical Center. Dr. Tom Taylor was Chief of Staff at Skyline Medical Center from 2003-2005 and currently practices at Skyline Medical Center, Saint Thomas Midtown, Hendersonville Medical Center and Macon County General Hospital.
Dr. Tom Taylor’s practice includes all areas of General Surgery. He enjoys performing advanced laparoscopy, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, thyroid surgery and surgical endoscopy. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for AdvancedHEALTH. Advanced Health is the largest independent, multi-specialty practice in middle Tennessee.
When not practicing surgery, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. His favorite recreational activities are snow skiing, road biking, camping and running.
Dr. Taylor prides himself on delivering state-of-the-art compassionate surgical care to his patients and would like nothing more than to be remembered by his patients as a caring physician and surgeon.
